Crushing And Shredding
This procedure is known as processing, where metals are crushed and shredded. Metals are first crushed in compactors at processing plants so that they are handled easily on conveyor belts.
After crushing it, metals are shredded into smaller pieces using the massive shredders, so they are melted effortlessly.
Melting
The next step is to melt the shredded scrap metal pieces using large furnaces. Each type of metal has its melting point, so a different furnace is put into use to heat the metals at the appropriate temperature. The process to melt the metal can either take minutes or hours. It depends upon the type and volume of metal. This process requires a lot of energy, but the energy used is considerably less than the energy consumed to create fresh, new metal from raw materials.
Jet stirrers are equipped into the furnaces to make sure of even composition and temperature by encouraging the circulation of metal within the furnaces. This process assures that the end product is of the highest quality.
Purification
Melted metals are purified to ensure no impurities. This process ensures that the new metal is of top-notch quality and ready to be used, as an impurity can vastly reduce the properties of metals.
For purification of metals widely used method is Electrolysis. On introducing the direct current, the electrochemical reaction happens, and all the impurities are separated to get the pure metal.
Solidifying
After purification, the metal is cooled down in a cooling chamber where they take the physical form with the assistance of density increasing chemical elements.
Transportation
The cooled metal gets shaped into tubes, billets, bars, or sheets of various thicknesses. The end products are now ready to be transported and then make their way into the market. Factories and construction sites are the most common beneficiaries of these end products.
